Kara K. Verryt is an associate attorney at Plager Schack LLP where she focuses her work on drafting and prosecuting patent applications.  Kara has experience in the chemical, mechanical, biotechnology, electrical, and computer science arts.

Previously, Kara was an associate attorney at Oliff & Berridge, PLC, in Alexandria, Virginia where she prepared and prosecuted patent applications, worked on appeals, and provided litigation support for clients throughout the world, including Global Fortune 500 companies.  While at Oliff & Berridge, Kara also lectured international clients on United States patent law at a training institute.

Kara earned her J.D. from University of New Hampshire School of Law (formerly Franklin Pierce Law Center), where she also earned a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, in 2011 and holds a B.S.E. in chemical engineering from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana (2008).   While in law school, Kara worked in the International Technology Transfer Institute clinic at University of New Hampshire School of Law.  As part of the clinic, she published patent landscapes on Applicable Genetic Engineering Technology for Algae Biodiesel and Dengue Fever Diagnostic Techniques.  She served as a team leader in the clinic, teaching other students how to perform patent searches and analyze results, along with facilitating the creation of the final reports.  Kara also interned in the legal department of Raytheon Company during law school and as an engineer at Raytheon during undergrad.

In her free time, Kara enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, boating, skiing, and snowboarding.  Kara also enjoys volunteering, particularly with children or with Habitat for Humanity.
